My bacofoil impression...

...worked a treat this morning as I wrapped myself in my BUPA foil sheet before the Port Tunnel Run. I failed to meet Nicky beforehand so as I wandered through the 10,000-strong crowd I thought I'd be running 'solo' until I met my soccer playing friend Trish and her sister-in-law Louise.

So to the run itself....it took 5 minutes to get over the start line but once in the tunnel the atmosphere was really good as everyone was testing the acoustics with a couple of 'Ole, ole oles'. The lack of spectators was compensated for by the fact the the tunnel was quite narrow really and there was a fair bit of congestion. It was also hotter than Hades as for some reason the ventilation system wasn't on and I suppose 10,000-odd runners were bound to raise the temperature somewhat. I met Fiona on the way round but with no kilometre markings all we were looking for the 'light at the end of the tunnel'. I emerged somewhat on my last legs with a time of about 53 mins (i think?) which wasn't too bad all things considered.

At the I met Richard so was able to congratulate him on the latest arrival in the Bryce family.

Collected my race t-shirt and medal and by the time I got to the end of post-race I had collected heaps of flyers for upcoming races....

...hmm....another 10K in Phoenix Park next Sunday???? I might just be mad enough to do it...
