It's cup final fever...

...as the Irish Junior Cup final awaits tomorrow. If the Irish Senior Cup garners all the attention, I can only describe the Irish Junior Cup competition as it's fiesty younger sister. Sure it doesn't get all the press coverage, but it's a highly competitive All-Ireland Cup that throws up some great games and some very good evenly matched finals.

I must admit I have a soft spot for this competition. I missed out on the last 2 Irish Junior Cup finals my club reached and lost a semi-final to Pegasus on penalty strokes, but despite all that I have to say that I cannot wait to step out on the pitch tomorrow and finally grace the cup final.

We are playing Bray - a team who defeated last year's winners Hermes in the semi-finals. They have a couple of ex-internationals on the their team and I am fully expecting them to be a tough bunch. We've had to play a few mid-week league games and there have been Bray personnel on the sidelines watching us each time, so I'm sure they know that we're going to be tough as well.

We have 2 more games to play this season - The Irish Junior Cup Final and a Division 2 League decider on Monday night. I am going to do my utmost to ensure we win both those games....

...then I can crack open that lovely bottle of champagne and rest my weary, crocked body :)
