It's a funny old game...

....as Whitehall Rangers became the 'nearly' women of Inter 2 North by beating eventual league winners Santry 3-1 last Saturday. Although to be honest, if anyone had watched us playing at the start of the season they would never have believed that we were capable of scoring 1 goal, let alone 10 in 3 games! Allegedly, I am now a striker as for the last 4/5 games I was thrown up front with Jen/Mary and given heaps of chances to miss open goals etc. Hilariously, I actually managed to score 8 goals in 4 games, somehow contriving not to miss ALL my chances. Naturally enough my task was made easier by the fact that all I had to do was put the ball in the net following some great passes from striking partners Jen and Mary.

So a runner's up finish for us and how sad am I at being so excited at winning a 'prize' for playing football...apparently there are medals for league runners up - even though part of me is disgusted at the notion of getting a medal for coming second - so now my sports medals range from athletics, cricket, hockey, orienteering and now soccer!!! Woo hoo...

Maybe now the time is right to try playing some GAA :)
