And so back to Boston...

SUN OCTOBER 14
Another glorious day of sunshine to bid me farewell as I get ready to drive back to Boston. We go out for breakfast this morning and then I help do some tidying up before hitting the road back to Boston at about noon.

This trip is over all too soon, and although I have an evening and a day in Boston, the reason I came out here was to see Rich and Michelle and hang out with them, so it does feel like the end of the holiday for me in a way, and I am sad because I had such a great time and the trip is over now. But on a happier note, I do need to visit them again as we never made it to The Chocolate Barn!

Thankfully the weather on my drive back is a hell of lot nicer than on Tuesday - no rain or lightning - so I am back in Boston, car returned and checked in by 5pm that evening. So I decide to walk part of the Freedom Trail as it goes right past the hotel. I manage to see quite a good part of the trail that evening, getting as far as the Italian North End area. It's a very nice way to see the best of the city in a short time so I feel able to say that I did see some of Boston anyway.

The Patriots-Cowboys game is on TV so all the bars are packed with fans who fail to see the ridiculousness of having a 1-hour game go on for 3 hours at least - and they say soccer is boring??? The game kicked off at 4pm and as I am heading back to the hotel at nigh on 7pm the game is still on! I can't find anyone who can tell me if England beat France in the Rugby World Cup, which is hardly a shock, but I did think it might get a small line in a national newspaper like USA Today or The NY Times though!

The locals go crazy as the Patriots defeat the Cowboys, thus ending their perfect winning record....
