Lovely Liverpool!

Had a great old time in Liverpool with Ruth over the weekend. We wined, dined, watched French cinema, shopped and roared on Liverpool FC against Spurs on Sunday (for all the good that did!), Ruth even managed to inadvertently assault a Spurs fan during the second half when we all stood up to watch yet another missed goal opportunity by 'Pool. Still, no harm done, and I did kinda feel sorry for the surreptitious Spurs fans who could hardly cheer when Robbie Keane scored either side of half-time.

Bizarre moment of the weekend came on Saturday afternoon when the new Primark, aka Penny's, had a queue round the corner of shopper waiting to splurge on cheap-as-chips fashion items. It kinda reminded me of the first time Boots opened a store in Dublin - you'd have thought the people of Ireland had never been able to buy shower gel, hair spray and suchlike before!! Although there was actual fighting during the opening of Primark on Oxford Street so I guess the organised queuing was a step in the right direction.
