Disillusioned....
...as I am currently enduring a rather poor performance by our 'boys in green', in this case our soccer team, who are losing 1-0 to a Czech Republic side who celebrate their victories by indulging in copious amounts of champagne and high-class call girls post match...
..anyway, it's all rather depressing, and although you should always support your national team 100%, sometimes it's quite difficult to do that when you're dealing with professionals who are paid a lot of money to train full time, only for them to play worse than a bunch of amateurs in important games..
...which leads me to our rugby team who, despite being the best prepared squad ever for a world cup competition, played wretchedly on Saturday last against a bunch of part-timers, Namibia. OK, it's only our first pool game, but it's not like it was our only poor game, we've been playing badly all summer and now it's World Cup time we need to get the lead out ASAP.
It just makes the efforts of all part-time sportsmen and women all the more heroic in my view...the minority sports like GAA, cricket and hockey where players have to work and train to compete at an elite level..even us lowly Whitehall Rangers had to play 4 league games in 10 days...
..and oh dear, Stephen Hunt has been sent off - a poor decision by the ref - and we're still losing :(
