Manchester, s'mores and more
WED OCTOBER 10
My first proper view of Vermont this morning as I awoke with the dawn, and the visit of a tree surgeon to discuss the options for cutting down an old pine tree in Rich and Michelle's back yard. It wasn't raining thankfully so it was decided that we would visit the pretty town of Manchester, 10 miles north of Shaftsbury. Whilst being a lovely, quaint New England-y town, Manchester is also home to a vast number of outlet stores, so of course we had to visit and purchase in several of those outlets :)
Today I learned a valuable photography lesson: take the photo as soon as you see it - don't delay! Heading for a bite of lunch, we passed a sign for a Baptist church that was kinda kooky and worthy of a photo (I thought), but I decided I would take the photo on our way back after lunch. Mistake. An hour later the sign wasn't half as kooky as before as they had changed the original tongue-twister subject of the sermon on the sign to the rather less hilarious "Through the eyes of a newbie". I took the photo anyway.
On the way home, we stopped for another Vermont treat - apple cider and warm doughnuts at the Equinox farmstead. Absolutely delicious :)
While Rich and I shopped in J Crew that afternoon, Michelle had secretly bought us Christmas decoration Snowman S'mores*. Mine came replete with ice skates, while Rich's was outfitted as a BBQ chef. Following Michelle's 'memorable' S'more making in Canada, I decide Rich should show me how properly to make these tasty treats.
*For my European friends...a s'more is a traditional campfire dessert popular in the USA and Canada, consisting of a roasted marshmallow and a slab of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker.

I wish we remembered what that original sign said. It was totally nonsensical and hilarious.
