Old Wesley nostalgia....

....last Saturday as Old Alex held their Christmas party with Old Wesley rugby club - place I hadn't darkened the door of for about 12 years. Meeting Nicky and Jane for some food before heading across to the festivities, I kept getting text messages from folks wondering why all the young kids were also heading into Old Wesley, so I had to respond that we were in fact having our party in the civilised 'upper bar' and not with the heaving throng of scantily clad teenyboppers downstairs.

And gosh, how rugby players don't ever seem to change! Dressed in their club shirts and ties but utterly hammered and dishevelled, which meant they were more the willing to purchase raffle tickets for our club draw. I managed to win some booze and some L'Occitane stuff for my trouble. A good night was had by all and the DJ even played some Abba which filled out the dance floor.

I must be getting old though - the conversation with my taxi driver on the way home was all about maintenance companies and how to organise a good residents committee!
